Do most things in the job consist of “not re-inventing the wheel”?

I swear there's a template for everything. Is the entire job just leveraging past work from analysts?I mean if that's the case, this job won't be too intellectually challenging, but more so just absolute grit and grinding.Associates & VPs what have you seen from your experience?

It's been better. There's still a lot of templated deliverables (pre-IOI LBO model, IC slides, etc.), but beyond that every company is different and has different data so a lot of the analysis is deal specific.

The bigger difference I've found is you have to "think" more. Rather than just grinding out data / slides my partners are expecting me to have put a lot of thought into the business & market and to have an investment recommendation.

I'm also at a smaller shop so this may be different if you're at a MF... my role hasn't been "banking 2.0" at all but that seems to be a common theme some people on this site have gone through.

Lmao only bottom bucket Analysts use stale slide templates on new decks. I'd get fired for that.
