Do Non-Targets have a real chance?

Hey guys. I just graduated from a non-target uni with a 3.7 GPA. I was super new to IB, I didn't even declare Finance as a major until junior year (former engineering student). I spent the entire summer grinding to land a internship bc I knew I was pretty green. Eventually got one for senior year at a middle-market VOG shop. We only worked on live deals. It was a great learning experience but I'm struggling to find analyst role offers. Do non-target school graduates actually have a chance? I've built up a decent amount of IB connections on LinkedIn but no luck.

believing youre second rate because of what school you went to is ludicrous

Non targets are everywhere in finance, including some of the very senior and most successful people across IB/PE/HF. Getting in is hard for everyone and non-targets may have to grind a bit harder to get foot in the door. But once in, finance is meritocratic and is all about performance. If you’re consistently a top performer, no one cares about which school you went to.

I mean have a look yourself on LinkedIn, plenty of non-targets across firms
