Do women find Investment Bankers attractive?

I am aware most people in the forum give a lot of importance to things affecting the finance lifestyle (prestige, class, money...) and we admire Investment Bankers and Buy-side professionals, but do people in other fields feel the same way? In particular, does it help to be an IB professional to get laid? (Ignoring the long working hours disadvantage)

I know the long hours and the stress makes difficult for Junior Bankers to have a BF/GF, but despite the working hours, when you guys go to a bar, do you think girls find working in finance an attractive trait? or otherwise they don't give a damn.

I don’t know who needs to hear this (OP obviously does) but if a women finds you attractive only because of your profession I think you’ve got other problems. If you’re a half decent person, show you care without being a simp and actually have more personality outside of being an investment banker, I think you’ll find a lot more success, especially long term, with women. If you need to rely on your profession to get women I feel bad for you.

The feedback some of us in the group received was...

- some male bankers are full of themselves and that is a major turn-off
- money/class is relevant, but bankers aren't the only ones who have that (doctors, actors, models, lawyers, entrepreneurs, athletes, corporate guys, engineers, ..)
- looks still matter the most, if a guy isn't tall, attractive, with hair, and her type - money isn't so important
- a lot of bankers are never available and only work; huge issue if you are getting to know each other
- some guys believe they are more important just because they work in finance or make more than others; life doesn't work like that. An idiot who works in finance is just an idiot with money; not a better man
- some bankers see the relationship as a deal; they put in money/prestige/class and receive a much younger hot blonde in return - this isn't what most people want or should want. Just because a guy has money doesn't mean he is "buying" the girl
- real feelings matter; you can't buy that regardless of income/class/employer or whatever

Sure lad, which chick would date a Knicks player when she could go out with a junior Investment banker?

I think fundamentally women (and both sexes for that matter) find confidence attractive above all else. Some bankers, because of the fact that they are financially comfortable, have had a lot of success in life, etc. tend to have above average confidence. Women find confidence attractive, so for some people yes, maybe being a banker made them more attractive.

I don’t think that’s a hardfast rule though. Plenty of people either take it too far and become cocky assholes or think they’re way too important (at the end of the day we’re still just servants to clients). Alternatively, the realization that you worked all your life for this role then find out it sucks up 100% of your time and the people you work with are assholes who talk down to you, and working around people who have way more money than you might make you less confident actually. I suppose that banking could make you less attractive then.

Just realize that your career doesn’t matter, most women won’t even know what banking is. But the influence of your career on the other factors in your life could either make you more or less attractive.
