Do you ever get to take an undisturbed 1 week vacation as an analyst or associate?

I was just wondering if at any point during your time as an analyst or associate you would be able to take off 1 week undisturbed planned in advance of at least 1 month. As an intern, obviously I don't have anything planned, but I was just wondering if junior bankers could do something like this at least once in their 5-7 years as an analyst or associate.

Yes, it is possible. Usually, people don’t mess with special occasions, like proposal trips and weddings. Also, you can grow some balls and just say you’re going to be out of pocket and not answer emails.

Group had pretty great culture (think CVP/EVR), the 7-8 days I took off was generally the EOY holiday season so there wasn't much work going on so easier to swing it (i.e. December 23rd to January 2nd or so).

Aside from that, I would take 2-3 days off probably once every other month for weddings/family trips/etc. though for these things I was generally flexible canceling or re-scheduling depending on deal situations.

My group head recommends we take one consecutive five day vacation per year. He makes sure nobody is allowed to ask us to do anything that can't be done on a phone (think, "where is this file saved" type questions). We can only take five days off per 6 months.
