Do you like your Job?
This is more directed to analysts. I wanted to hear your thoughts on your jobs in IB. Do you guys like your job? Do you see yourselves continuing in IB in the long term, or are you just here for the exit opportunities or the money? what don't you like about it? On the other hand, for those of you who do like IB, what is it that you enjoy about it? Is it the money, the job, or something else?
I'll start with my opinion and experience. I'm a 2nd year analyst in a BB, and to be honest, I don't really enjoy my job. The hours are brutal, and while the tasks have "improved" since day 1, there are still aspects of it that I find tedious. That being said, I have learned a lot and continue to learn, which is great. However, something I dislike a lot is the relationships between teams. It's too competitive, and no one seems to care about others. While I do have work friends in other analysts and have a good relationship with my MD, the douchebag atmosphere is not my cup of tea. All in all, I'm in IB more for the money and exit opportunities after 2-3 years. I'm already looking for jobs in PE or VC.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
