Do you need another structuring tool for ABS/MBS ?

I'm currently working on a open-source Python package that user can

* Define deal attributes (fees/tranches/pools/waterfall rules) only in Python syntax

* User can project the cashflow for fees/pool/accounts/bonds.

* User can tweek the data ( tranche size, waterfall actions, any item in the deal ) to structure the cashflow appealing to investor or rating agency .

* The calculation logic will be open sourced as opposed to current vendors which only trying to sell their own commerial structuring software . ( but the package is not working yet, the documentation is WIP )

I'm just wondering , do you think the analyst would using a python ( they may incline towards to spreadsheet ? or they won't giving up the current commerial solution giving the leanring curve )

There are tools out there that already do this. Almost everyone uses Intex in the space, especially useful for deals that are repetitive. T-REX is another start-up that performs a similar feature, although not as popular as Intex because of how new it is.

For complicated deals, firms prefer to just model stuff in excel/python because things can change on the fly.
