UBS Tech MD hires Son (from no-name college) as an Intern
A UBS MD exerted his influence to force his team to coffee chat said prospective intern and then subsequently hire him this summer. Just another example of how rotten UBS has gotten

Congrats on UBS!
Sounds like vice chairman, talks about his sons a lot
One of his good clients hired his other son.
Sounds like a potential quid pro quo is brewing
Didn’t know that! I’d be curious to see if they happen to end up with very company friendly terms on financings and equity raises
Pay to play
this vice chairman person sure does have some haters
If you are also an intern in his group, you’ve already lost one of the potential openings to him. Good luck!
Summer Performance review: “this is the BeSt SuMmEr InTeRn I have ever seen! Already as competent as a Director”
Doesn’t take much at UBS
At UBS this review would likely be an accurate reflection of his skills
Most above board hire I’ve ever seen
Sounds as rotten as UBS’s deal flow
No name liberal arts school… definitely stole a more deserving prospects seat
“Add my son to this list. Pls fix, thx”
Seems like a fairly blatant Nepo hire
Once you start doing stuff like this, you are no longer a serious and reputable bank
Was it a reputable bank before?
Who is it
Vice Chairman, I’m sure he’ll parade him around the office once he hits the desk
Will he be on the cruise lol
okay, looks famous
It’s the Count of Rucci
A little good old fashioned hire your son nepotism is better than the hire dud cornball MDs from Barclays who can’t originate on massive guaranteed bonuses type of nepotism
What if a dud cornball MDs from Barclays who can’t originate on massive guaranteed bonuses, hires their son?
he are cooking
Cornball definitely a solid description
if you care about this you are an incel
Or someone trying to break in without daddy being there to make a call.
However, I am against nepotism too, but to single out one kid like that is simply unacceptable imo.
Nahh we all need to let the world know he’s a Nepo hire, so others around him could be careful and all give him the white glove service he expects
Yeah I mean worrying about something like that is not going to do anything for yourself nepo hires are not a new thing I could get it if your talking about nepotism as a whole but talking about one kid is insane
This is the kind of dialogue we should be having on this website.
Automatic promote to MD
Happens at every bank on the street.. lol
Everyone talking about this is either unaware or does not care about the fact that at least 75% of analysts are nepo hires, client kids, or DEI. Sorry you don’t like the kid, but this is very poor taste ngl
Wildly inaccurate with the 75%
Correct, it’s far more. Am on my BBs campus team and we maybe are putting through 1 kid a year out of the 8 or so that get hired, rest are pushed to us by random seniors who know the kids parents (whether through a client relationship or just personal friendships) or are put through by HR for DEI.
75% is lowballing it at my work 😭
Oh no, other banks would never do something like this...
Imagine taking in MD or client kids and undermining meritocracy in banking...
Sunlight is the best disinfectant
He deserves the imposter syndrome because he truly doesn’t belong
Where’s HR and wtf are they doing about this? They need to grow some balls and help protect the franchise
From an SAT option liberal arts college with a well connected parent. Kid is very likely legit dumb
ur an associate THREE in ECM of all places spending ur time commenting and hating on a kid on WSO who doesn't know who u are. you're probably dumber lmao
what's ecm got to do with anything lmfao, kid deserves some backlash
Everyone complaining about this is gay. It's not like he has a golden ticket, this kid has to work at UBS now.
Facts this is the finance equivalent of a dad getting his son a job at Burger King. Yes it’s nepotism but should you really care?
Nepo hires have always been and will always be part of the game. No one cares outside of salty undergrads
UBS is not a serious organization on the IB side. It’s ran like a fraternity to be honest
At least he is an american citizen instead of another stem opt h1b. America first nepotism!
What a guy can’t get his son a job anymore? Thought this was America
He’s pretty chill tbh
Act immediately to secure your money, lock down your personal accounts, and report the fraud to the proper authorities. [ shieldstridehub ]

How’s he doing?
