Does age matter?

Hello, my fellow monkeys. I’m currently in year 5 at the University of Cambridge reading medicine. My school allows me to do an additional undergrad degree from any interests including broad courses. So I did BSc in Economics and by the time I graduate I would have Econ BS and MBBS (MD in the US.)

I’m really interested in IB and PE related field and thinking of starting my career at IB rather than as a clinical doctor. So based on what I’ve researched, to get into the PE field, I have to have 2 years from IB then 2 years from PE then 2 years from top MBA. I’m thinking of doing 4 years of experience in London and then move to the US for MBA and find a eventually find a job there.

My only concern is my age. Once I’m finished with all the compulsory modules I would be 29. Then by the time I go to the MBA, I would be 34ish. I worried since all the rest of the guys who’ve gone to the field straight after the undergrad in their early-mid 20s, it would be impossible for me to find a decent job after completing an MBA.

Please those who are currently working in the field, give me some useful advice. It would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.
