Does prestige of full time position really matter, now that PE recruiting is so early?

Would there still be a big difference between places like 1. PJT, EVR, GS, MS vs 2. BAML, Moelis NY, PWP, JPM, CS, Lazard if almost no analysts would be able to talk about a closed deal? Interviews for PE are happening 6 months into the job.

Timeline for SA is very accelerated right now, so if we (as sophomores) get an offer from one of the firms in the second group, should we take it? I'm assuming that it would be hard to recruit full time at any of these places for full time, so getting a return offer from an internship would be the best bet.

He’s an industry professional and has either worked for, with, or against many Lazard employees.

Your only exposure to the industry is from other college kids who needlessly group banks into tiers like some sort of shitty extension of college confidential. Congrats on getting an offer to an EB; hopefully I don’t have to deal with you this summer if it’s the one I think it is.

Even though timeline for these firms is accelerated they are more less inline with one another (minus GS and JPM I guess). I interviewed at 2 of ur "Tier 1 firms" and 1 "Tier 2 firms" (just to use your lingo) all in the same week.

This is to say that Lazard is not giving out offers 5 weeks before PJT with a 1 week explosion.

Your focus rn should be to get interviews and some offers before thinking about what to do with them.
