Does undergraduate degree matter?

I was wondering if the type of degree matters for placement in investment banking. For example if I go to Boston college which is where I am thinking of EDing in the fall, if I get a finance versus an English major will it affect my chances of being placed into IB? Assume that for both majors I am involved in the same types of club such as finance clubs, business clubs, investing clubs etc. The only factor that is different is my undergraduate degree.
