Don't understand Barclays coverage - Pls help!

Within IBD, what do Barclays Country Coverage / Regional Coverage teams do (for example UK or German Coverage), as in are they mainly tasked with origination and managing relationships or are they involved in modelling / execution etc? And is it limited to M&A or are they also involved in ECM/LevFin?

Thank you!!

most of these location based coverage groups are not good places for juniors to go because the technical aspects of the role will go to M&A or Industry coverage in a main office. its really just for a seasoned MD to network with clients in a local office. as a junior you will be mostly be making books with just the banks tombstones or profiling local companies

Barclays' Country/Regional Coverage teams focus mainly on building and managing client relationships in their respective regions. They help originate deals by understanding client needs and pitching ideas. While they’re more focused on the front-end of deals (like origination), they can also get involved in some aspects of execution, usually working alongside product teams (e.g., M&A, ECM, LevFin) that handle the heavy lifting for modeling and technical work.

So, they’re not limited to M&A-they cover a range of products, but their involvement in the details depends on the specific deal.
