Double Summer Internship Advice (IB & WM)

Hello everyone, I'll keep this short and to the point. I genuinely appreciate any advice you can offer.

I've received a Summer Internship offer for Wealth Management at a Bulge Bracket (BB) bank and another for Investment Banking at a Lower Middle Market (LMM) firm. The Wealth Management internship lasts 8 weeks and the Investment Banking internship lasts 10 weeks. I'm currently leaning towards the IB offer.

There is a 4-week overlap between both experiences—WM begins in June (in Asia), while IB starts in early July (in London).

I'm eager to gain as much experience as possible and would hate to miss out on either opportunity. I understand this might be wishful thinking, but I wanted to get your thoughts on whether it's feasible to do both. Would it be possible to shorten my BB WM internship and transition to the IB role without facing severe repercussions? Would terminating my contract early for WM to move to IB in London likely burn bridges?

My goal is to maximize the experience and have both names on my CV, provided there’s a way to do so without damaging professional relationships.

Thanks again, I appreciate all your insights!

I had a similar problem with weighing brand vs my interests when thinking about my last internship. I ended up going with the MM firm, and I don't regret it. I was always more interested in IB, and so I took the risk of work type over brand name. And although it does have its cons, I think its super helpful to learn if you really want IB or not. The second thing you have to think about is do you want Asia or UK long-term. If UK, i would opt for the LMM. I think the BB brand name makes a difference, but the location and the work type do make a huge impact. I liked my experience in MM (and likely will stay in it after school as opposed to some BB shops), as the learning experience and volume of deals gives you a solid background.
