Drug Screening (im from a legal weed state Job is not)

Just received an offer for an analyst position. I am from NJ where Weed is legal, the Job in question is in Florida where it is not. The HR. rep that offered me the position is based out of the NYC office and I would take the drug test at a clinic in NJ. Can they rescind their offer if it shows I have been smoking weed?

Yep. It doesn't matter if you live in a legal state...it ain't legal in Florida. I feel your pain, I also love smoking but I've been suffering through an extended T break before starting as an analyst this summer, even though I'm in NYC where they technically can't test for weed I'm just nervous and its not worth the risk imo. Stays in your system so long.

Yeah-- its interesting. The offer letter I got last summer does say it is contingent on a successful drug screening. However, I compared HR emails I got before the internship and recently before starting FT. The email before the internship says "on x date you will be contacted by our screening company about a background check AND drug test," but that drug test was cancelled because of COVID. However, the email I got for FT only says "...about a background check"...makes me think they may have given up on the whole thing given the new NY law plus COVID. But who knows. I'm still toking on some weekends but once April starts I'm done (except maybe 4/20), and definitely nothing in May-- the date is at the end of May.
