early career 180

monkeys, I need some advice. I currently work as a trader in a product/sector I find quite interesting. I think I am doing pretty decent at my current job, as it fits my natural personality well. if it weren't for location, I could see myself staying with this team for a longer term.

I have been presented with a potential opportunity in New York, where I'd love to be. however, the work in this job is a polar opposite to my current nitty gritty micro job, so think macro/strategy/client pitchbook type of responsibilities. but, this role would take me to New York, and also gives me a ton of exposure and face time to some very senior people. like, the person who runs this team is two levels removed from the CEO.

I'm at odds here. do I risk burning every bridge at my current job (which I do like the work & people), if they find out I apply for this very niche opportunity that might not be a great work fit, but provides immeasurable network and professional movement opportunity?

apply or don't apply for new opportunity
