I have a lateral interview for an IB coverage group. My background has been in ECM. Curious as to what an interview would go like regarding my experiences / deals. How can I best convey transfer-ability of skills from ECM to coverage? Any advice?

My first question would be: why did you choose ECM out of college?
Sometimes you dont get a choice, it’s either that or nothing at all and it’s a good place to get your foot in the door.
Your interview may be similar to that of an internship or first year analyst
The interview will probably be exactly the type of interview any other prospective analyst would get. Behavioral and technical questions, all the ones you see on that 400 IB questions thing. So make sure you know all of those inside and out, as well as be able to talk about why you are making the move, your experience in ECM and how you plan to work very very hard to catch up to the other analyst who have been doing it for a year or 2 already, assuming you come in as like a A2 or something.
