[Emails/Networking] Blackberry Rule or Personalization?

I’ve been putting a lot of effort into my networking thank you emails, ensuring that they’re not “boiler plate” and have 3-5 decently long sentences that recall what I appreciated about our call and mentioning specific details. I spend at least 20min per thank you email. I haven’t been getting the best respond rate. I recognize that bankers are busy and can’t always respond, so I’m not sure if this is a turn-off (I.e., this kid is a try hard, this kid can’t write briefly or to the point) or if bankers do appreciate the long-winded email. My calls have been 25-35mins long, so I feel the need to show appreciation, but unsure if this is a waste of time or even harmful compared to just using boilerplate templates.

turn off. a 5 sentence thank you email? I wouldn't read it if I saw it was that long. Just say hey thanks for connecting and (insert thing about convo). Let's stay in touch. xxxxx

Personally think you should cut it down a bit. I'd try to include only 1 detail from the conversation rather than reciting everything you found helpful. Like the other guy said my structure would probably be:

"Thanks for taking the time to speak earlier. I enjoyed the discussion and (appreciated your thoughts around group placement.)/(found your explanation on X industry helpful.)/(hope your Chiefs bet pays out this weekend!)/etc. Look forward to staying in touch."

Even this might not get a response given how busy bankers are, but at least isn't too long for them to read. In the past when I've received thank you emails listing out everything interesting from the conversation it felt a bit contrived, like they were doing it because they read it was helpful in Networking 101. I wouldn't stress about it though, the thank you email won't be a turn off if your conversation went well.
