ER as IB backup for recruting? Am I being stupid or stretching myself too thin?

Good evening fellow Sapiens,

I’m currently at a community college as a rising sophomore to transfer (hopefully) to a west-coast semi target by the start of junior year. The more i think about the career path, the less I want to put all of my eggs in the IB basket and then get fucked over during SA recruiting especially in my position.

I’m thinking about doing ER recruiting and studying for that in tandem, according to the people on here it has lots of skill overlaps with IB while having more reasonable hours (at a cost of worse exit-ops and slightly less pay) Would it be a fools errand for me to chase both goals or to have ER as a backup? Is ER a more reasonable goal in my position?

I’ve subjectively heard that it’s an idiotic move to try to recruit for consulting while learning skills for IB due to the lack of overlap, so i’m wondering if it’s the same.

If not, what are some of the good fallback plans if I don’t get in (haven’t found a cohesive monolithic awnser online) Thanks for reading my post love you guys :)
