ER to IB

Hi,

I am a recent graduate of a good (but not Ivy League) school going to ER in NY at a top BB shop (think JP/MS/BOA/GS) in a popular vertical (well-known analyst too) that has good deal flow and for various reasons, I have decided that doing IB fits better into my long-term plans. I wanted to ask you guys for advice on how to go about lateralling into IB in about a year, preferably at a top shop (GS/CVP/EVR/MS etc)

How do I sell myself vs other IB lateral candidates who have direct IB experience? I will have given the 86/87, but not the 79 for obvious reasons - would that hurt me? How can i prepare best to make this transition? Is there anything else I should know? Thank you in advance!
