ER vs IB to get into HF/ AM
I was wondering if the investment banking or equity research path would be better if I wanted to end up in public investing (either at a hedge fund or large asset manager)? It seems like equity research would be more applicable, but I know investment banking places a lot into the public side too. Which would be a better path to pursue if I wanted to end up in public investing? Thx
If by Asset Management your talking the predominant LO shops, then I’d say ER. I say this as I’ve been told on numerous occasions they tend to not really like to bring in IB guys for whatever reason and i’m guessing ER doesn’t have that same stigma
Interesting, how do hedge funds compare?
