Based on the highest ranked content on WSO, here are some insights to help you choose the best master's program for breaking into BB/EB IBD in London or Zurich:

LBS MFA (Master in Financial Analysis)

  • Reputation: LBS is highly regarded and has a strong track record of placing graduates into top BB/EB roles.
  • Network: Extensive alumni network and strong connections in the finance industry.
  • Location: Being in London provides excellent networking opportunities and proximity to major financial institutions.

HEC Paris MiM/MFIN

  • Reputation: HEC Paris is one of the top business schools in Europe, known for its strong finance programs.
  • Language: A significant portion of the cohort is French, which might limit networking opportunities if you are not fluent in French.
  • Focus: More oriented towards financial markets, which might be beneficial if you are interested in roles beyond IBD.

ESCP MSc in Finance

  • Ranking: Ranked highly by the Financial Times, indicating strong academic and career outcomes.
  • Language: The program is 100% French-taught, which could be a barrier if you are not fluent in French.
  • Internship Opportunities: The two-year structure allows for additional internships, which can be valuable for building your CV.

Considerations:

  • Language Proficiency: Since you are not fluent in any major EU language, LBS MFA might be the best fit due to its English-taught program and strong placement in London.
  • Internship Experience: Your existing internships in PE and M&A are valuable, and a program that allows for further internships (like ESCP) could enhance your profile.
  • Networking: LBS and HEC Paris offer strong networks, but LBS might provide better opportunities for English-speaking roles in London.

Recommendation:

Given your goal to break into BB/EB IBD in London or Zurich and your current language skills, the LBS MFA seems to be the best option. It offers a strong reputation, excellent placement record, and is conducted in English, aligning well with your career aspirations.

If you are open to improving your French, HEC Paris could also be a strong contender, especially if you are interested in financial markets. However, the language barrier at ESCP might make it less suitable unless you become fluent in French.

Good luck with your decision!
