Ex-Lehman

Just a generic post really but did anyone in here work for Lehman before it shut?

Can you talk about some of your experiences, do you miss it, where are your coworkers now, etc?

I was still young when it occurred but it would be interesting to hear.

This post is also applicable to those that worked at other financial institutions that ceased operations during the same period.

My senior year Econ teacher in high school was a trader at Lehman. Quit in ‘07 and became an Econ teacher.

Thanks Dick. What are you up to these days? You thought about joining Steve at BX or like running for nyc mayor? Not sure what you want to do but think you could be helpful to the industry and/or the city if you want

Know someone who worked there (not in a FO finance role but a tech role). Help support the S&T desks specifically ABS I believe. Got laid off and ended up joining colleagues at a few MM/BB firms that had a large amount of ex-Lehman employees at the time.

Left finance as their kids started to get older. Works for their family business where they likely make 2x+ (probably 3-5x tbh) than they used to (never asked what they were making at these banks but it was somewhere between 120-200K+, unpredictable hours though since it was a global BB).
