FAAMG PM vs IB tier 3 bank

Hi guys got an offer from Big Tech as a PM and one from an IB tier 3 bank ASO, currently in an M7 MBA, international student, wanting to stay in the US, comps matter, but FT job offer and sponsorship matters more.

Like finance a lot and want to have a career in PE/VC in the long run, no previous IB background.

What do you guys think?

Is that what you want? But you should be picking based on the team fits and your long term goals. Just keep in mind Amazon is not an equal opportunity as the other FAANGs (didn't include Netflix bc they dont do much MBA recruiting), including in the return offer department. But go with what teams you mesh with and your long term goals, not just based on internet stranger's arbitrary rankings.

If it's Amazon for their bullshit non-tech PM gig in retail or supply chain or smthg, I would pass and go with the IB offer. If it's legit PM, then this is a no brainer. One of the hottest business-oriented jobs in tech at a big name beats out a shitty BSB IB offer.

Engineer here who wants to leave leave ib and use mba to pivot to PM. I would easily take the PM role.

You will be much more valuable to a vc firm down the line than just being another banker or consultant. You will imo also preseve much more optionality as post mba don’t really have much buyside ops available and vc is very niche (also, pm in of itself is an exit). You will develop actual product expertise plus live a much better life style and retain just as good if not better exits as a PM.
