Have someone in our group who made it by 32 or 33 (forget exact age). I’m sure there are people out there who have done it faster, but was still very impressed.
Have an MD that did it before 35. Extremely sharp mind. He will reach conclusions via intuition instantly that will take a normal analyst 30 mins playing around a model to reach. He remembers details and dynamics from deals as if he just worked on them yesterday, even if it closed 8 years ago. There seems to be a consensus on WSO that being an MD is just about charisma and client relationships, but no doubt some of them just genuinely are smarter and faster than your average above-average guy.
Something people forget is that being on top of the details makes a good foundation for being charismatic. While you don’t need to know the details to be charismatic, it is so much easier to be charismatic if you know your stuff
Macron become a partner at Rothschild at 32 years old - pretty insane when you see that a lot of French bankers start working at 24/25 years old (through the prepa/grande ecole pathway)
I think he made partner extremely quickly (a couple years). He went to ENA which is the top public administration school in France. When he started some CEOs said he would “rewrite their business plans”
We have a guy in Asia in our operations who made MD around 30. Not sure about exact age, but just about that. He was very impressive with clients, brought on a good amount of them. And very smart, of course.
There's a guy at AGC (MM tech-focused bank) who just made Partner as a 2018 grad. I've never met him and I'm sure he's very competent but interestingly enough he does have the same last name as the bank's founder...
My old firm had an 30 yo MD. What's more impressive is that he's only in his 5-6th year in the space.
His memory is amazing and he had charisma to boot. The year after i resigned, my old coworker said during the firm's EoY townhall he was praised by the CEO because he pulled roughly 50% of the firm total fees (against 6 other MD's). Granted there are some speculation that he is a one trick pony that had a rabbit's foot stuck up his behind because of the unreal timing with the market demand and his very specific experiences.
Goes to shows that sometimes luck and timing will provide you the springboard you need to rise to the top.

Might be wrong, but I remember kind of doing the math and it seemed like Ken Moelis did it super quick

Keith Magnus from Evercore?
I don't work for Evercore, but that guy sounds very impressive as well.
We have extensive operations in Asia and business there is booming. Seems easier to create growth there.
impressive guy but his bio on the evercore website is entirely just him jerking himself off …
Justin Lubell who is now global head of equities at citadel. Made MD at 25ish at bear stearns trading.
That doesnt count
what's interesting is M&A MDs
My high school econ teacher used to be an MD at JP Morgan. Pretty sure he got there in his 30s
I wonder why he went to teach high school econ. I would of been a professor instead.
He was an alumni and wanted to be closer to his kids

Was a Mr but not Taylor haha
Mr. Powers?

2 possibilities:
seeing as there are 5 other people working for the firm with the same last name, I'd assume the former.
I know of someone that got it at 25/26, Bear Stearns used to promote you quickly if you made money
