Feeling Hopeless for FT

I have been feeling pretty hopeless about landing a full time spot in IB. I've networked my ass off the last six months talking to hundreds of people, and still not made any progress. It sucks because I feel like in a normal year I would have def gotten a spot. I've started looking at the big four and other roles but its pretty much the same situation over there. This year sucks.

Hey man I was on the same boat last year but I can't imagine what you're going through with a pandemic underway. I will say that don't lose hope just keep your A game on, there are spots opening later during the year, some firms recruit late, and heck, there are also random opportunities popping up that you never knew existed. I got lucky by staying in touch with the right people but if your college career services and IB alum can't help you put in front of the recruiters and get you interviews, you have to cast a wider net in terms of location, divisions, and even industries.

Don't lose hope and of course, feel free to PM me for any specific questions or a call and I'm happy to help in reviewing your resume, interviewing skills and networking-wise.

Same brother. Been in so many processes and SD’s, even with model tests and the whole shebang but from my return offer to people getting the FT roles I’ve been #2 or #3 out of the spots they’ve picked.

I’m just hoping that I a) get better through interviewing and tap into info you can only realize you need once asked really and b) all these competitive Mofos get a job, and hopefully opps open up during the year at places that got shitty returns.

I feel you. I got a 3.9+ GPA from a semi-target, an IB and PE internship, and am president of two campus organizations. I am having trouble getting interviews despite sending thousands of cold emails. I interviewed at one boutique and did not make it to the super day despite an alum pushing me since too many ivy kids with 3.9 GPAs. In the year prior, my friend (non diversity) from the same school got a position by cold applying with a slightly lower GPA and only FP&A and accounting internships.
