FIG Coverage Trainee Soc Gen

Does anyone have any insight about this role - reputation, type of work, exits etc? Thanks

Just saw the listing and have done an IBD SA and looking for FT roles rn (ik this is not an IBD position but just wondering what types of roles it could lead to/whether it's still respected etc)

Yeah HR made that quite clear to me too, didnt land the offer yet(still interviewing) but was wondering if FIG coverage is even a front office role? Seems a bit odd because the description seems to say that they work with both Global Markets and IBD on certain things such as industry research/structuring and originating deals/trades etc + manage relationships with FIG clients? But still dont get it exactly haha in terms of what it could lead to etc.

FIG Coverage is 100% Front office. It's the most front office you can get, you deal directly with the clients. Obviously the trainee has less interaction than the senior bankers, but that applies to all investment banking positions. Any updates on the role?

Some of the points also make it sound like an ops or credit role unless I'm mistaken but this is the role description:

  • Perform economic and financial analysis on key clients and prospects.
  • Conduct industry research including peer analysis, sector/country studies.
  • Prepare presentation and marketing materials for use in client meetings and transaction execution, covering topics such as financing alternatives, capital markets activity, capital structure advice, treasury services and derivatives.
  • Conduct internal reviews and follow up action plan per client/portfolio: analyse business potential and cross selling opportunities, participate in meetings with salespeople to identify the opportunities/gaps.
  • Participate to the team development: optimising existing systems and processes, proposing new projects.
  • Monitor market trends and track client performance.

And to answer ur other q - I am interviewing for some OCs in large MMs in IBD atm(think Jefferies, Piper etc) and if one works out will obviously take it but think they did not go well so most probably will not be getting anything this season+have already graduated

Heard that they treat trainees very badly. 5% conversion to permanent that is very random and not performance based. Front office trainees do back/middle office work. Overall not a great company for junior. A lot of negative reviews on glassdoor for trainee positions.
