Freshman Dreams?

I know, ridiculous title right? I'm glad it caught your attention

As my freshmen semester at a non-target comes to an end I've come to the realization that my dreams have as well. This year after chasing ass, smoking pot, and drinking booze for 8 months i managed to attain a whopping 1.4 GPA, and that's not a typo either. This post isn't me feeling sorry for myself, as I've already gotten past that stage, it is however a call for guidance. I know having a career in investment banking isn't looking to bright, or dim. Is there anyway to comeback from this situation? Even if i get a 4.0 throughout the rest of my college career i'll only be able to get a 3.3-3.5 GPA at the end of my senior year, keep in mind i am at a complete non-target, and my options to transfer don't look to bright either.

If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.

First, slap yourself. Second, keep working on the grades. Third, try to become a good salesperson, that is the skill that will take you further in life than almost any other.

Did you at least get some ass?

hey you got it out of your system, and it sounds like you've turned a corner and are ready to change things. You're young and you have a lot of years ahead of you, you'll be fine. Don't stress that your overall gpa won't be "stellar", aim to have a great gpa within your major, network your ass off, show your dedication through learning outside the classroom, join clubs, get involved, read read read (read wso), and get some experience under your belt, starting this summer. give us an update in a year and let us know how it's going, wish you the best

Take easy classes. Do not take any more risks in your undergrad career. Work hard from now on and improve your GPA. If you want to get into IB you certainly can if you really want to. Learn to network at every opportunity since you are from a non target school with a low GPA. Network as if your life depends upon it if you really want to do IB in the future.

Have you considered retaking those classes? Depending on the school, if you do better in the same class the second time around, they'll usually drop the lower grade and replace it with the better one. Also, some schools charge tuition up to X credits, then anything over that is "free". If they were easy classes (from what you remember between the smoking and the ass chasing) and you're loaded up on credits to where you could take it for free, taking 1 or 2 a semester until you've "fixed" the grades in those classes. That might work out a lot easier for you than just killing it in your future classes, if your goal is to up your overall GPA.

Can't stress the good grades in your major enough. If you can do this, and get that GPA up in the 3's it will be easy to say that you had one bad year that really affected your GPA. Good for you for tackling the issue!

Good luck

This to all my hatin' folks seeing me getting guac right now..

I would honestly still look into transferring. If you're at an 'absolute non-target,' dropping a couple spots in national ranking doesn't mean anything. You're going to have to network your way in either way. Transfer and work your ass off in terms of school/internship+networking.

If I were you, I'd drop back to a CC and get my head and grades straightened out. Get a 4.0 at CC then apply to the best school that will take you.

That's not a bad idea either.
