Freshman Summer Internship Advice

Hey all, I'm a freshman at a target school (HSW) who's been pretty interested in exploring IB for a while now. I've been hearing some mixed feedback on the importance of a freshman summer internship, but just to be safe (and to get some experience), I'd like to go for one.

Does anyone know the feasibility of landing an in-person role at a boutique IB or something equivalent in NYC? I know most of these places don't have structured recruiting processes so I plan on cold emailing this winter and reaching out to some connections. Also, I'll probably recruit as a sophomore as I plan on graduating a year early.

Also, I'd love to have some advice from those who've been through something similar or just tips in general for this summer!
