FT Offer got Deferred - Need Advice

As the title suggests, my ft offer at a respectable firm (industry coverage group) got deferred a year. I've been applying to a ton of positions on Linkedin, etc. but not having much luck. I've started studying for the CFA and GMAT because I don't know what else to do.

Any suggestions?

Congrats on the offer but sorry to hear about the deferral. I feel like we need more information here to help. Is this an offer to start ~2 years from now? If so, what you should do depends on if you want to accept the offer or shop for full-time positions. Which are you thinking?

There’s a plethora of items you could accomplish in two years aside from graduation: traveling, CPA, CFA, multi-month internships in adjacent fields, one year specialty masters, deferred MBA programs, GMAT, double majoring and adding a fall semester to your grad date, hell even other programs like military reserves/TFA/Peace Corps may be on the table though I am admittedly unfamiliar.

If you want to recruit full-time for 2021 positions I doubt people would blame you. I’ll let others chime in as to what that would exactly look like. By accepting now though, you’re taking on some risk that they could pull your offer a year+ from now if shit hits the fan, not a guarantee unfortunately.
