FT recruiting in 2026

May 2024 grad here wondering what the status of FT recruiting landscape looking like. Had two internship experience in banking but firm did not do RO, working in MO at AM firm. With M&A having record deals in 2025, what is the FT hiring landscape for 2026?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, there isn't specific information about the 2026 full-time recruiting landscape. However, historical trends and insights from previous years suggest that full-time recruiting in investment banking is heavily influenced by market conditions, deal flow, and firm-specific hiring needs.

Given that M&A had record deals in 2025, this could indicate a positive hiring environment for 2026, as strong deal activity often leads to increased demand for analysts. However, it's important to note that full-time recruiting can still be competitive, especially for candidates transitioning from middle-office (MO) roles or those without return offers.

To maximize your chances: 1. Networking: Start reaching out to your network immediately, leveraging connections from your internships and alumni from your school. 2. Positioning: Highlight your relevant banking experience and transferable skills from your MO role at the AM firm. 3. Timing: Be proactive, as full-time recruiting often moves quickly. Some firms may begin recruiting as early as the summer before graduation. 4. Target Firms: Focus on firms with active deal pipelines and those known for lateral hiring.

If you're aiming to break into front-office roles, ensure your technical skills and deal knowledge are sharp, as these will be critical in interviews.
