Fumbled B5 Toronto - Where to look next? (SA 2025)

Hey guys. I'm exclusively recruiting for Toronto (financial reasons) at a semi-target (UW, UofT, McGill), strong GPA, in my school's investment club, and a B5 non cap markets internship this summer. I prepped the whole year and interviewed at all B5. I felt like I interviewed well but didn't end up converting any offers and am pretty bummed out but looking to put my best foot forwards. My goal is to re-recruit FT at B5, and I'm wondering how to set myself up best- starting with what internship to aim for next summer. I have lightly networked with a few boutiques but it would be great to hear your guys' thoughts on the smaller shops in Toronto or if it would be better to aim for PE/AM/pension fund. Any information on recruiting timelines and general advice would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, a PE/credit position at a leading pension will be just as good if not better in some cases than Big 5 IB - just make sure its in a group that offers returns (think Teachers do not, CPP does). Not sure what timing looks like as I am full-time now but usually the pensions recruited later towards the end of summer.
