General Knowledge of IB and Hedge Funds career
I go to a community college right now. I have a solid GPA 3.7 and I am in honors program. Since this school doesn't have economics major, I am a business concentration right now. I want to transfer out of here. Any suggestion on where I should apply to for econ major, that investment bankers will hire from. I had a very substandard SAT score. (I don't test well). I am working on that right now. I am not going to retake the SAT. My high school gpa was barely 3.0. How many credits should I take in cc before transferring so that my high school scores don't impact on their decision to give me admission. I trying to turn my life around. And right now, it is going to according to plan, which was to get my GPA high. I wanna know what school would be good for me. And if economics should be the major I should go for if I want to get into IB. Any thing I should be doing in the meantime? Job wise and internship wise? Any suggestions anyone can provide will be tremendously appreciated.
if you want ibanking, finance is a better major than economics
@sadboy: How much math is required in finance. Or just in IB or Hedge fund. I would like to know if you use calculus in a daily basis or not. In general what math courses should I take in college?
I hate that question. Who cares how much math is used. Sometimes you use math, most of the time youre using your thumb.
Should I be doing internships while in college in financial firms? If not now when should I start? How many internships looks good for a job? Sorry, but I just have tons of questions...
Go to the FAQ's and read everything.
The search bar is your friend. Yes on internships. Target school kids usually have 2 (sophomore & junior year with junior year internship definitely being finance related and often working at a boutique ibank or investment shop (VC/PE fund).
