Gerson Lehrman Group Sales and Trading?

I was interested in getting into investment banking and have a 40 hr/week unpaid summer analyst position with Wedbush in their IB Public Finance department which is obviously not ideal, but is still IB.

I recently got in touch with one of our alumni who is a VP out in LA at Gerson Lehrman Group who says he works in sales and trading in client relationships mostly with hedge funds. He said he could get me a full time paid sales assistant role but I'm skeptical of what the GLG actually is. The website says nothing about S&T, only about their professional client network?

Could anybody fill me in on what Gerson Lehrman Group is, what I will be doing, and how working there will compare with working at Wedbush in terms of Fall Recruitment. What kind of exit opps will I have if I were to land some kind of Full Time junior sales role? How would this compare transitioning out to Wedbush Public Finance? Any advice or information is appreciated.
