Ghosted after they agreed to speak

I sent a standard networking email to two individuals over the past couple weeks, both individuals agreed to speak with me and suggested dates - after giving them a couple time slots I did not hear back and sent an email the day prior to when the meeting was to occur and a week after.

Was wondering what happened between them agreeing and getting ghosted and how I should proceed.

Sorry so you reached out Monday, they said as an example let’s meet Thursday, you say yes here are times that work for me Thursday. Then on Wednesday you send another message to see if Thursday still works and heard nothing since?

If so I am unsure other than they got slammed otherwise they would not have responded Imo.

Yes I reached, two weeks later the individual responded saying they were away and happy to connect, and said on Monday to meet on a Wednesday and then never responded to my email with times for Wednesday - I am trying to figure out what went wrong from initial communication to then and how I can end up speaking with this person.

Pretty common IMO, happened to me before and others I knew during networking.

It's usually two reasons 1) they suddenly got busy, 2) saw something in your profile/resume they didn't like (e.g. lack of relevant experience for role, not in target school, could be literally anything).

Best you can do is follow up once or twice but move on after that if still no response. Don't take it personally and I wouldn't continually pestering them.
