Goldman GMS
Hi All,
Thinking about applications and job stuff early but I would like to know more about GSAM and specifically the Global Manager Strategies Team as the role from the outset seems particularly appealing to me.
I'm researching and narrowing my areas of interest down firm by firm and this desk really sticks out and I would like to know if people can provide more insight.
1. What is the desk culture like?
2. Typical career progession assumnig you start out as analyst?
3. Work life balance on the desk?
4. Salary and bonus guidelines?
5. Reputation on the street?
6. Work day hours?
7. Exit Opportunities?
If one went down the whole Alternatives and Manager Selection route are you pigeon holing yourself to a specific career path in this area or do you obtain the transferable skills to leverage and transition over to more buy side research or fund management related roles seeing as you will most definitely obtain exposire through liaising with Fund Managers over the course of your employment.
Would appreciate some constructive comments from people.
Thanks,
Al
Get an interview on the desk or network with someone on the desk then come back and ask questions like this. As of right now you're wasting your time. You shouldn't be "narrowing down" your opportunities this early in the game, particularly when you sound like you don't have any.
He's asking about a desk... how is he wasting his time. Why would he bother trying to get an interview at a place he might dislike.

Hi: I applied online for a position in GSAM- Global Manager Strategies. After a week, application status changed from "applied" to "review". I have few questions.
1.How long should I wait for an interview call after application status changed to review?
2.What can be the interview structure?
3.Are there any specific topics that are required to be focused on for Global Manager Strategies position during my interview prep?
4.What would be working hours and compensation?
All insights much appreciated!
Thank you in advance:)
