“Goldman Sachs: internship from hell” What do y’all think of this chick? https://youtu.be/Y5udNrlkanc

Personally, I thought she sounded pretentious, spoiled, and ungrateful. However, I get that this business isn’t for everyone. She should at least thank GS down the line for catapulting her YouTube “career.” Lol

Unfortunate that it seemed like such a meat shop, but she's describing S&T in 2016. Funny enough, if you watch all the way through her complaining about the process, she ends up taking the full-time offer anyway and describes how she quits after 6 months (if the 10-week internship was traumatic, why even take offer??) .

Honest take: Partly not the right career fit for her and partly a poorly-run internship process by GS.

I think she did exactly 0 research about what a global markets internship entails beforehand, and it’s completely her fault for ending up in the situation she did. The vast majority of what she said isn’t unusual for an S&T internship. Most banks operate their programs in a similar fashion. Had she talked to just one single person who works in S&T before she accepted the offer, she wouldn’t have been in this situation. Tbh, I’m shocked Goldman would accept someone into their internship program who’s so oblivious about the industry.

U kno, diversity hire

Lol I was expecting something actually bad, but she only complains because she had to work hard and fight for the offer.

The second part of the video with the liberal shit is so awful...

Everything Goldman expected of her was reasonable.

Everything she complained about (plastic stools vs. wood stools, having to work hard, having to wear a name tag (lol), and having to endure some stress) indicates there's a good chance she'll have a hard time succeeding in many, if not most, jobs.

I think she makes some notable points about banking in general which is that certain firms encourage a very cutthroat culture that's not good for anyone. That said, it builds a lot of character and chances are if you go to a target school or any T20, you're used to such a tough climate. It's not for everyone and I think for most people, the reason that such a toxic climate is tolerable is because they appreciate the work (maybe not the day to day, but the bigger picture). Without that, I imagine working at a BB like Goldman is uniquely rough. But yeah agreed some of the stuff she disliked was pretty whack.

I'd expect a video like that from a white girl but not from an Asian. She should ask her parents how hard they had to work for her to be in this position to work for Goldman. Immigrants have to literally clean toilets and risk their lives on construction sites before anybody woke up and after everybody went to sleep for their kids to grow up in US and have a chance for a better life. And these kids then complain that they had to sit in an office and not see the light as an intern at Goldman. No shit, you're just starting your career, you should be working 24/7 to learn as much as you can so that later you can start having normal work/life balance if you want.

Bro chill, some of the highest earning demographics in this country, including the top one, are Asians. Not everyone comes from poverty, and everyone is entitled to decide what job is a good fit for them.

ITT: salty dudes who are offended at some random girl on the internet who didn't like her internship who didn't love "fuh-nance" and "the goldman sachs" like she absolutely should for some reason, and want to take out their grievances of recruiting/diversity programs/hard technicals out on her

non target as fuuuuuuuuuk. you all should be cheering, one more spot for you.

In fairness it's a pretty laughable video - she spends half the time complaining about working hard ("I came into the office... and this still hurts me to this day... at 5:40am... before the sun came up..."). She also rails against capitalism / rich people and the money-obsession for a little while, but then accepts a return offer (despite such a a "traumatic internship") primarily because they're giving her $10k to move offices? Ironic.

Laughable. Makes fun of capitalism, but has other videos where she discusses working in other private sectors and traveling the world. In a true socialist fashion, as in my former country, you weren't allowed to travel. Capitalism only sucks when you realize you have to bust ass to see any real wealth in the world (Guess the MacBook pro, $6 latte, and iPhone 11 aren't enough for these girls)
