Goldman Sachs Spring Presentation

Hello,

I'm a sophomore, and went to a GS superday a month and a half ago. After 3 weeks of waiting, I received a callback from HR saying that I was an extremely strong candidate and they'd rather me apply for Full Time next fall (don't know if they were being serious or just being nice...)

I received an email today from someone within GS HR inviting me to two events being held on campus (NYU) this Wednesday. One is "Goldman Sachs Why Work on Wall Street? Spring Presentation", which is described :

unsure if you should work on Wall Street? Come find out! Please join us for a “Why Work on Wall Street” workshop presented by a Goldman Sachs Recruiter. This presentation will provide you with a better understanding of how you fit in on Wall Street. Light refreshments will be served. This event is only for current freshman and sophomore students. To register for this event please click

and the other held later that day is "Goldman Sachs internship 101 Spring Presentation." and is described as:

Please join us for an Internship 101 workshop, presented by a Goldman Sachs Recruiter. We will go over everything from ways to have a successful summer internship to the Do’s and Don’ts of internships. This presentation will provide you with general tips that will apply to internships in many industries. Light refreshments will be served. This event is only for current freshman and sophomore students. To register for this event please click

What are you inputs? Should I go to these events? Are these events and their attendees for a hidden agenda? Thanks guys!

To quote from another thread, "Just a bunch of Goldman dickswinging, exchanging of cards, and scouting out candidates."

Go to it if you'd like to improve your chances of working there. It can only help, because networking always helps. I'd be going to it if I wasn't abroad.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

Should I bring my resume? In order to RSVP online (via goldmans website) I have to submit my resume (again).

Also, does being invited to this mean anything (good or bad)?

I know a sophomore who went to a week-long event. They didn't interview/offer him this summer b/c they thought he already had an offer. He met with HR and got an offer to intern in IBD next summer (junior year). Go for it. Only upside.

It doesn't mean much. If you are someone who interviewed with them before and were waitlisted, they know more about you than some random kid who did a paper submission online. You're less of a risk for them than someone completely unknown, so you got an invite back to a more informal networking event.

If you need to ask questions like "should I bring my resume?" chances are you aren't ready.

I suppose I'm not ready, but I'm wondering, should I bring my resume? Can someone answer that question for me.

I ask most importantly because in order to register for the event, I had to go to the GS website, answer a few questions about myself and UPLOAD my resume. Thus, bringing it could be useless as they already have it and the people attending the event don't need an additional copy.

Could someone help me out with this?

Get a resume folder, one of the leather ones, your school probably has a stamped, embossed one with the logo or coat of arms on it, put the legal pad on the right side, a couple copies of your resume on the left behind the little flap, a pen in the loop in the middle, and go do work.
