Goldman Sachs Undergraduate Engineers Summit

I am planning to apply to the one day event in NYC that Goldman holds for engineering students to get a perspective on working the firm. But I wanted to know from you guys if you have heard of about this and if it's legit.

Yes, I have a friend that graduated from MIT as an engineering major, and she worked in S&T for one of the BB I-banks. Definitely S&T considers a lot of engineering students, as long as your from one of the top programs.

wshopefulanyone know what the agenda for the day will be? also what departments we will be meeting?

I RSVPd but haven't heard any more info.

I attended the engineering summit yesterday and wanted to comment on the event for future users. The event was extremely well organized and it was clear that the company put a lot of effort into the event. There were approximately 50 students present and the target to non-target ratio was heavily skewed towards targets. However, there were a few other students like me who were from non-targets, so it is definitely possible to be invited if your resume is solid. Also, the sophomore to junior ratio was approximately 50%.

There were a lot of activities planned, including a networking lunch, mock interviews, and networking reception. I think the event would have been perfect if a trading floor tour had been included as well.

The divisions that were represented were primarily Operations and Technology, although Securities had a strong showing. Unfortunately, there was only a small presence from the Investment Banking division. I felt there was too much emphasis on BO and MO divisions, and not enough emphasis on FO divisions. However, during the networking sessions, there were representatives from each division present.

Overall, the event was a good opportunity to "get your name into the system" and to meet people with whom to follow up by email later. Anyone who is invited next year should not decided whether or not to attend based on the divisions present. You should just go and enjoy the event. It was a very exciting day and I met a lot of cool people.

Hey, I was there as well. You're pretty much spot on in your description of the event. I might just add that it seemed most people at the event were interested in the FO which was funnily enough not the emphasis of the event. I did get to speak to a banker in the natural resources group at the networking session though. Any idea how many people applied for the event?
