Good questions for a bank executive?

I am having a conversation with one of my bank's executives soon which will determine whether I can become an analyst. I am thinking of good questions to ask regarding the bank's strategy but so far I am not sure where to start. Do you have some good questions that can lead to interesting discussions with executives? How can I make use of this conversation and not to waste their time while also making me stand out from the pack?

Take with a grain of salt, this is my personal opinion.

I usually dislike questions around firm strategy, views on markets, "where do you think oil is going" etc. They feel very canned to me, almost like asking a question for the sake of asking, or to sound intelligent. If you are genuinely curious, ask away but try to be specific rather than open ended.

IMO, the best networking conversations are about personal connection. It's a mix of asking questions about their background (i.e., feeding the ego) and subtly selling yourself in conversation.
