Got a lateral offer to better firm, what to do?
2nd year at lower tier EB (Greenhill, PWP, etc) and got a lateral offer from (Evercore, GS, PJT, etc). I really like my team and I was top bucket my first year but I don’t know if I should take it. It’s in a location I want to be and will give me exposure to the types of deals I want. I’m close with 2 mds on my team (shoot the shit with them, they take me and other analysts out for drinks sometimes). Want umm PE and didn’t recruit last year

Mid/Top group, won’t give a lot more info but most people exit to respectable or well known pe firms

I've always wondered how those top banks recruit for lateral positions if you don't mind sharing. Could you apply for it or they only use an 'internal' channel.

Probably not worth it tbh, especially if your primary motivation is better exit opps. You'd be foregoing your bonus after putting in half a year's worth of work already.
Ehh the pay difference isn’t a huge factor and I care more about exit ops. Culture at my current group is good (80-90 hours every week but seniors are nice, even if they push too hard sometimes) but deal flow isn’t amazing.
