I networked with a VP at Deutsche and got an email saying I received an internal recommendation from HR and that HR would be in contact about my fit a month and a half ago. I received a number of suited connection requests and connected with a different email and continued to get a few more requests. Never got an interview, should I do anything in response?

Had this happen with me with a Managing Director at Blackrock for an entry level role different from their department…kinda (got a screening call but that was it). It happens. Sometimes they're looking for a "specific" type of person or they weren't really looking for anyone. The MD was pissed but told me at these big orgos these days unless you're someone's kid, recommended by a partner or going specifically for their team…random referrals really don't mean shit. Wouldn’t hurt to check up if it’s been a while and you haven’t heard anything though.
Referrals don't always mean interviews. Back when I was recruiting, I received interviews from all but 2 BBs, and ironically I only received referrals at those two BBs.
I'm in exact same boat-- no interview at DB even though I got an MD referral. Disappointing
