Lol. Someone random anonymous post said that compensation for private banking is 250 all in, with a 150k base and 100k bonus. Is that where you heard it?
IBD base for associate 1 is 175k across the board for associates...
That was my comp, it isn't uniform
No first year investment banking associate in the US has a 150 base
Stub Associates were 40k flat across the divisions, no buckets to the best of my knowledge
A1 was 85K on a 175k base
Haven't had the guts to ask my more senior colleagues yet, but for context the stub last year was 100k and some junior associates cleared 400k last year. A bit of a kick in the nuts tbh. Guess this is the "be grateful we didn't lay you off" bonus.
Thx fam
Oof 260k TC for As1. That’s brutal
They pay you where it’s just enough, but not enough
This is not accurate. AS1 are stub associates (ie they did an MBA or are 3.5 years A2A).
the annual bonus was $85k, pro rated for 5 months so ~$39k. Supposedly there was no buckets for stub
Not sure why it’s “inaccurate”. Stub associates are referred to as ASO-0, you can check any groups phone list to confirm. AS1 are those who are paid for a full 12 months. Nonetheless yes, not great in comparison to previous years but deal flow admittedly has been low.
What divisions are you guys in for associates for that much comp?
Comp last year was such an incredible outlier that I feel like people are now overreacting to bonuses. Deal activity is abysmal and bonuses seem like it’s mostly just back to pre-2021 levels.
This is no time to be rational or reasonable.
but yes 275k was street before outsized bonuses and is probably a fair baseline for AS1
Some banks call Asso ( o) Associate 1. You start at 150K and in January they call you associate 2 and bump your base to $175.
AFAIK only Citi and Evercore call MBA associates with 0.5 years exp Associate 2. Rest of street calls them associate 1
So at banks other than Citi and EVR a post mba As is As 2 after 1.5 years (6 months stub and 12 months first full CY)?

Since they are talking about January bonus round, I assume they meant Associates when they said junior bankers. Did they really give out 10k bonus to Associates? at that point why not just give them a donut?
Does anyone know the job title progression at GS IBD?
I see a lot of people going from VP to MD directly after 3-5 years. Did they eliminate the ED title in between?
they’ve never had ED, not sure if they have D tho
They have Director levels in Europe I think, but in the US it’s only 5 levels across the firm, analyst, associate, VP, MD, and partner
