GS giving one time bonuses to partners, pretty cool if you’re at that level. Sh!tty if you’re not.

Saw this Bloomberg article today, nice of them to keep feeding the top dogs the good food. So why not give the lower levels a nibble of this to incentivize/retain talent? I know the GS discount is real, but they could've shown a little gesture of gratitude with this stock bonus pool.https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-01-1

Because the top dogs bring in the good food. Partners generate revenue. On the other hand, analysts and associates are very replaceable, and for that matter, GS knows that they are able to get away with a discount with analysts and associates because of their name. On the other hand, a top rainmaker can't care less about the name of the firm he or she works for, and if another firm offers more compensation the top rainmakers will just leave as they actually have leverage in the situation with their rolodex.

For what it's worth, analyst bonuses this year were also top of the street. Top bucket AN2s got 145k.
