GS is this cheap for interns

Source: friends’ summer employment letter

“XXX will work approximately 40 hours per week and will receive a base salary at the rate of $85,000 during their internship (total wages ~$14,711) as well as a $2,500 bonus”

Inflation hellooooooo?

May get MS for this but the money you make as an intern is literally peanuts to FT pay at GS. Is pro rata 85K to 110K really going to have any affect on your life as a college student? Be grateful you got this opportunity, work your balls off this summer, and come FT you'll get an absurd check even by normal IB standards.

Have friends at GS receiving bonuses that are 2x base last cycle. Makes the SA pay seem a lil less important now in the grand scheme of things doesn't it.

$85K base + overtime + a $2.5K signing bonus is more than enough for housing + food for an intern. Get off your high horse.

You guys are acting like inflation is 100%

No one is asking you guys to live in a single at NYU, there are plenty of apartments to sublet in the summer for 1000-2000 a month range, and even 85k which we all had before you guys is def enough to afford.

As others have said before, you’re not even going to be paying for dinners, stop complaining for a difference of 200/300 post tax per paycheck which is literally what it’s going to come out as.

FT is a different conversation, but for summer interns you guys are crazy
