There definitely is, it’s an official process that you’ll be made aware of a couple weeks into your internship. The process is largely based on (1) performance as an intern, and (2) interviews/networking with the group you want to join.

The interviews are very light and much more conversational than your superday would’ve been. If you have a compelling reason to move and get good reviews, the campus recruiting team (and your own SA team) generally are very understanding.

It can be a bit of a delicate process as your group may not want you to do mobility, but you also need them to give you good reviews.. so you just have to be cognizant of when the right time to tell your group that you want to leave is. Not a hard process on the whole, but smart to be intentional and thoughtful about it.

Thanks for the reply! Have some further questions if you don’t mind:

1) If you decide to go through the internal mobility process, would you not be able to get a FT offer from your current team? I figure it would be pretty bad if you wanted to switch, couldn’t make it, and ended up without a FT gig at GS

2) How many locations/divisions/teams can you apply to?
