GS TMT SF
Curious if culture has gotten better since the slides came out. What are average hours for analysts and are exit opps mainly in SF as well?

Following. Can anyone comment on the NYC office too?
SF exits have recently been more SF focused, but of course that is due to self selection. Recent exits include Silver Lake and several top growth equity shops. Can't speak more broadly, but sure lights out placement from both offices.
any thoughts or ideas on average hours worked in the office as well as whether NY exits are doable?
GS SF is an absolute sweatshop. You will get worked to the bone- there was a recent story of an analyst who committed suicide.
Exits from GS TMT is purely self selection. In other words, if you want NY PE/HF/VC after two years in the group, you most definitely can do that. It's just that the majority of analysts in the SF office have some relation to the west coast, and choose to stay. Has nothing to do with being "limited" by exit ops.
safe to assume average work weeks of 90 to 100 hrs?
Yeah that seems about right. Don't have 100% of an accurate picture, but I have a friend in the group currently. 90-100 hour weeks is not uncommon.
for context, are most other banks at 80? and do you think it's worth it to join this group-- if given the opp?
It's fair to say that GS TMT works harder than most groups. But that being said a lot of banks have been rocked in the past 12-18 months with rough hours.
If you were given the opportunity to work in GS TMT, hands down take the offer. One of the best technology groups in the world, with top-notch exit opps.
