GS View on Reneging for them
Hello everyone,
Any insights/stories about this would be appreciate it. Would you recommend telling the people at GS that I am reneging for them (being honest) or just don't mention it? Thanks a lot in advance

I wouldn’t do it- what benefit would you get? You probably won’t get hurt, but I wouldn’t take a chance on that
Dont tell them you accepted an offer just say that you have one but they are by far your first choice. They don’t know the details of your deadline and if they ask when just say “very soon”.
Doesn't the "very soon" part make you sound shady? or is it just business?
Nah it’s just business. I doubt they’ll probe for a deadline but if so just say “about a week from now” . Nobody is going to run behind your file to double check that stuff, just use the moment to drive it home that you’d pick them over the other offer and it should be fine. GS notifies people they really want within 48 hrs anyway

If you renege, Llyod Blankfien will walk up behind you while you're waiting in line to get your millenial oatmeal cold brew coffee and punch you in the balls. He'll then take your kombucha and spill it onto the street while the crowd looks at him all petrified.
Wouldn't do that. Just go your way--"ultimately chose to pursue another path, etc." This happens at banks all the time, no reason to let them know what your doing, none of their business.
I think GS is okay with people reneging for them; historically, it should have happened many times
