H1B Situation - what to do

UK International student at target school with a 2026 SA at a MM firm in NYC

With London IB recruiting starting now, is it good to apply for UK roles and say my MM will not give full-time returns or email HR at the MM myself?

Any advice appreciated as London IB is in full swing. Thank you.

Yes start UK applications (you would be a tad late as most BB's and EB's have been open for a couple of weeks). If you get a better name in London take that or take the NYC summer (with little to no expectations for a conversion) - although you could ask them if they have capacity for a grad role in London after the summer. Don't think you need to email HR, unless you want them to consider you for a summer with them in London instead of NYC.

While you should start applying, it's worth noting that there's almost no way this H1B stuff doesn't end up in court and getting paused. It's not something under presidential powers as the H1B cap is set by congress. It's very likely that this will stay in litigation for years before we actually figure out what will happen.

might be worth discussing with the HR/management of your MM firm that you'd be open to returning to their London office for FT
