Has anyone had experience successfully switching from consulting to Software Sales?

Title. I’ve been applying to several Account Executive positions recently but haven’t had any call backs or contact after applying through company websites. I feel like I’ve hit a wall and need some advice.

I know I don’t have direct sales experience but I believe I worded my cover letter and resume to show my ability to upsell services in consulting. Further I tried to show how my financial literacy could me understand clients issues on a deeper level and thus translate to additional sales.

I feel like the minimal sales experience is hurting my chances but I’ve been told by those in the industry they think it’s possible I could skip a SDR role and move straight into Account Executive.

Anyone have any advice? Would mean the world right now
