Heartbreak --> Investment Banking

Throughout high school I was an average student who didn't have any motivation or drive to succeed. After finding out my so called gf at the time cheated on me, I used all my anger to start working harder in the classroom. I ended up going to business school and now have a job lined up in IB. I can't explain why a heartbreak made me want to have a career in finance especially during a pointless relationship in high school. To be honest, I probably wouldn't be where I am today without it. Is anyone else in the same boat or is it just me?

He might as well convert the hurt into something productive, just being defeatist doesn’t accomplish anything.

I think most of us in a similar boat use the break-up/heartbreak as a catalyst to try to change ourselves for the better. Probably a lot of wanting to flex on the other person after all’s said and done so they feel like they’re really missing out

Just don’t stay jaded about her for too long cause it’s not the most sustainable form of motivation

Honestly did the same thing as u OP. Had a girl, we broke up, then used it as motivation to be better myself. proud of u bro
