HEC MIF or LBS MFA

Hey guys, I'm trying to decide between HEC's Master in international finance or LBS's Master in financial analysis for breaking into IB in London.

I am currently leaning towards HEC given the smaller cohort size and the higher position in rankings. Also my undergrad was at UCL.

Which do you guys think would be better?

Keep in mind that the rankings aren't reliable. FT ranks based on salary after a number years, weighted by increments of I think 1, 3, and 5 years. That's not a good predictor. Many people do their masters go to other schools for MBAs and pump their salaries after a while, for example. Don't make it your number 1 decision point

These two programmes are equally good imho. I'd go to HEC because of their dual degree programmes for more exposure and opportunities.

If you want London and want to maximize career outcome take the MFA, but both are great programs so if you want a change of scenery HEC would work too. By the way at HEC you will not be directly in Paris (1h away) so you need to be comfortable living in a college town versus a large city like you are used to in London right now. There are pros and cons to both of course.

LBS MFA without any doubt. If you speak French then HEC comes close (networking opportunities at HEC are easier if you speak French). Don't think that any school in Europe beats LBS when it comes to placement tbh.

I did go to LBS, but was also admitted to HEC and have friends who went to HEC.

I am doing HEC MIF now so definitely biased, but I would 100% go to HEC. Placement is stellar and life on campus is amazing in my opinion. Many friends did LBS MFA and were not as happy about the program nor the placement

Factor in the possibility of UK visa access for internships getting harder to get and/or the unwillingness of banks to sponsor them the way they’ve been doing the past 2y. If you want to end up in LON, I’d go for LBS hands down
